What is Pelvic Floor Therapy?
The primary goal of pelvic floor therapy is to improve the function and strength of the pelvic floor muscles, alleviate pain and discomfort, enhance urinary and bowel control, and restore overall pelvic health and quality of life. Treatment plans are typically personalized, taking into account the individual's specific symptoms, goals, and underlying conditions.
... and what exactly is a Doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and their families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. The presence of a doula has been associated with various benefits, including increased satisfaction with the birth experience, reduced need for medical interventions, shorter labor duration, improved breastfeeding outcomes, and enhanced postpartum well-being.
Do I need a referral from my doctor to see a pelvic therapist?
The short answer is no! Due to "Direct Access" laws, patients can be seen without a referral by a licensed physical therapist for a specified number of visits. To continue PT after the allowed time/visits, we will help you obtain a referral from your provider. Referrals are not needed for doula care.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not directly bill insurance. Our services may be reimbursed under an out-of-network policy you may have with your insurance provider.
Why have you chosen not to work with insurance companies?
Opting to be a cash-pay practice enables me to maintain greater control over the plan of care, duration of sessions and cost of treatment. It allows me to spend more 1:1 time with patients, ensuring personalized care and attention to their specific needs. By avoiding insurance paperwork, I can offer high-quality services at transparent and affordable prices.
Why are the visits conducted via telehealth?
Telehealth PT increases accessibility for patients. You no longer need to find childcare or take time away from work, and it reduces transportation costs.
What do I need during our sessions?
During the initial evaluation, you will need a safe space to move around on video. We will discuss the need for equipment or tools after determining your plan of care and goals.
